How to Plan a Successful Year-End Email Campaign

By Jerome Benanti, Email Marketing Manager

Believe it or not, it’s time to start planning for the holiday season!  With the start of the holiday rush among us, the click and open rates of this year’s emails are expected to outperform 2010′s numbers by 23% and 11%, respectively.

In an effort to drum up business and prepare for the holiday rush, a review of last year’s campaigns is in-order.  Find out what worked and what did not by reviewing campaign data.  Next, begin planning for the 2011 holiday season.

Start off the holiday seasons by deploying how-to guides related to your business.  For example, tell people how to use a certain product, share make up application tips, or create a special recipe.  This will help gain active readers who will be awaiting your next email deployment.  Follow up with an offer or another big win for open rates is free shipping incentives- after all, it’s the holidays!

After New Year’s Eve, e-mail deployments are still just as important!  Telling people where and how to use their gift cards, reminding them of return policies and encouraging customers to complement their holiday purchases with accessories can be effective campaigns throughout the month of January.
