- Utilize your website: Make sure to have clear call to actions that land people on specific pages of your website. For example, if you are an e-commerce driven business, landing people on shopping pages that contain sale item products is the way to go! Make sure to spice up the landing pages with banner ads and messaging that is consistent to your email offer. The more that you can grab people’s attention; the more likely they are to purchase.
- Capture emails from Brick and Mortar Locations- If you have actual brick and mortar locations, during the check out process make sure that you are collecting email addresses! This is a great way to help gain customers for life, customers who will open your emails and take action on the offerings.
- Refer-a-friend promotions- Refer-a-friend promotions really help spread the word about your email marketing efforts. There are two ways to implement this strategy. The first way is to identify your most powerful purchasers, the people opening your email and taking action. Segment an email to them, and include a refer-a-friend incentive. Those who refer 5 or more people to your email list get to take advantage of the reward in that email. This helps to create a growing list of people who are more likely to opt-in. Secondly, you could remind people via the checkout process on your site or via a confirmation email that they can refer a friend to your email program. - Leverage your Facebook Fan Page- Start by posting your promotions to your Facebook Fan Page! Let people know that you are having a sale, that they can join your newsletter and receive the same offering. As your Facebook fans start to take more notice and engage with your postings, build out a Facebook tab and feature a newsletter sign up, which will help attract new people to join your list.
